Athonite Saints and Elders
Archimandrite Ephraim of the Skete of Saints Andrew the First-Called and Anthony the Great (1956-2023)
The spiritual Father of Elder Ephraim was Elder Ephraim of Philotheou (and Arizona, + 2019), who in turn belonged to the holy brotherhood of Saint Joseph the Hesychast (+ 1959). "Younger Ephraim" was born in 1956 and was for a time the Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Philotheou on Holy Mountain. He and a small brotherhood started a remarkable re-building project of the Skete of Holy Apostle Andrew and Saint Anthony the Great (Serai) near Karyes in the Holy Mountain in 2001. Archimandrite Ephraim was the leader (ie. Δικαίος) of the Skete until his repose in 17./30.3.2023. The Skete belongs to the Holy Monastery of Vatopedi and is - at the moment - a home for about 30 Fathers.
